Christmas

We had Christmas on Sunday night with Michael's family. I had my camera with me but forgot to take any pictures. We ate dinner, the kids decorated gingerbread houses, played a few rounds of bowling on the wii and exchanged gifts. The kids all got a quillow(a small blanket with a pocket to fold it into a pillow) and Michael and I got a quilt from Michael's parents. Tyler had us in the family exchange and gave us a $25 gift card to iTunes.

On Christmas Eve we stayed home and watched tv.

Christmas morning the kids were excited to find that Santa had brought them just what they had asked for. Ammon, Annie, and Ethan each got 3DS systems. Emily and Erica got iPod's and James got a big toy car that he can ride around in.

After opening the presents from Michael and I we went to my parent's house and had breakfast. Then we opened presents there from Grandma and Grandpa. We later had lunch and played games. Most of the day was spent playing on the electronics that we had gotten.

Elf on the Shelf

We got our Elf today, the kids decided to name him Tinsel. Apparently some of the elves are mischievous and mess things up but I don't think our elf is going to be like that. He's a good elf watching the kids for Santa. Annie's classroom has an elf named Mr. Day in her classroom and apparently he does all kinds of mischievous things during the night and over the weekends. I should take a picture of him and put it here but I'm too lazy right now. Maybe later, besides he's on his way to report to Santa.

Ditching and Ear Wax

So my friend is bailing on me. She hurt herself at work today so she's not feeling up to going tomorrow. I was really looking forward to going with her. I know I should be good and just go by myself but I don't think I can bring myself to do it.

Took Annie to the Dr. tonight because she's been complaining for the last few days that her ear hurts and it feels like there's a bubble it in. He tried to see her ear drum but it was blocked by 'ear wax'. The nurse came in and flushed her ear until it came out. It wasn't really wax, it was a small piece of paper. She has no idea how she got it in her ear. But I'm glad she finally got it out. I thought it was related to her strep that she's now had twice in the last month.

The Forgotten Carols

If you've never seen The Forgotten Carols with Michael McLean you have got to put it on your calendar for next year. I had heard the music but I'd never seen the musical. It was beautiful.

Michael and I went to the Matinee in Orem on Saturday, it was a full house. But such beautiful music and a wonderful story. If you ever get the chance you should see it.

December??

Wow, tomorrow is the first of December. What happened to November, on that subject- what happened to October, September, August, etc. The year seems to have just flown by again. Christmas is just around the corner. I've got my Christmas cards ready, well the cards are ready I'm just finishing my annual letter. For some reason my list seems a lot shorter this year. I think I have everyone on my list that I normally send cards to. It's always disappointing that I don't get many cards in return, oh well.

I went to the practice for the community performance/sing-a-long of The Messiah last night. This is the third year that I've tried out for a solo part and I don't think I'm going to get one again. It's a little disappointing but I can't let it bother me. I don't sing as much as I used to. I think the most that I got to sing was when I was in high school and sang with the choir there. I wish there was some kind of choir that just got together and sang once a week. I think that would be fun.

Friends and Temples

I usually don't post a lot of private inner feelings and thoughts here, but I'm going to try to start blogging more. I don't want to blog about trivial things but things that are important to me.

So I'm going to start with my friend Colleen.

I believe there are people that come into our lives at a time when they do for a reason. I have a dear friend that I've only known a short time, and I'd like to think that it is because of my influence and continued instance that she get her temple recommend renewed that she has. I know she has had a lot of trials in her life and she struggles just like the rest of us. But to watch her turn her life around so that she can go back to the temple has really touched me. I know it's been a struggle for her and I've tried to be there and encourage her as I could.

When I first met her I didn't think she was LDS, well I didn't think that she wasn't either, it just didn't cross my mind. Then in talking to her one day I discovered that she was LDS and that we were in the same stake. She told me then that she had never been to the Vernal Temple, she has always gone to the Salt Lake Temple. It was then, when I invited to take her to the Vernal Temple that I found out her recommend wasn't current. I told her that very day that when she did get her life straightened out and her recommend renewed that I was taking her on a trip to the temple. I am so excited now to be able to do that with her. Yesterday she told me that she had her recommend, she just needs a member of the Stake Presidency to sign it. I am really looking forward to taking her, not just for the spirit that is felt there but because I know she needs the renewing strength received from going. So as soon as she has a free morning, after that recommend is signed, I'm taking her.

Mini Powwow

Ethan got to participate in the headstart thanksgiving powwow again this year. He was not excited about going but once he got there he had fun.

He's the one wearing the red Car's hat. He wouldn't take that off for anything.

Halloween

Here are all the kids dressed up ready to go trick or treating.

Headaches and more

So I've been suffering with terrible headaches for awhile now and with all the tests that I've had to do I'd hoped they would find something but so far nothing. Yesterday I had a spinal tap, another test in the long list of tests, today I'm feeling like someone is pounding on my head. I was alright to come home but after a few hours of laying down, which I was told to do, I can't sit or stand up without intense pain in my head. I have to be practically flat to not feel it. Hope this test will finally tell the Dr. something useful.
