School shopping

I swear school shopping gets more expensive every year. We got each kid new shoes, a package of socks, underwear and 6-7 shirts and shorts. Except for Ammon who refuses to wear shorts. Most things were on sale, either marked down, buy one get one half off, or buy one get one free. And we FORGOT the backpacks!

At K-Mart we bought only clothing and shoes, the total was $621.28. We saved a total of $288.31. Good grief! Total number of items bought was 85. Remember this is only for 5 kids, we're not buying for Aaron this year.

At Wal-Mart we bought school supplies ($150.12)  along with a few more clothes ($138.08) and the rest was groceries ($120.25) and miscellaneous household items ($75.36) for a total of 206 items.

Add in dinner and the gas we put in the van and we spent over $1200.00 on our trip to Vernal.(Too bad there isn't that kind of shopping available in Roosevelt. And that gas prices are through the roof here.)

We started Ammon out with a pair of cheap shoes until we can make a trip to the city with him. He is hard on shoes and we've found that Nike's work great on him. He made it through the last school year with one pair.

School...

Well I guess I'll say that the count down has finally begun. I registered all the kids today. The first day of school is the 20th.

Ammon is in 6th grade at the Jr. High and he has six different teachers. They will all continue the same through both semesters.

Annie and Emily will be at Kings Peak Elementary. Annie is in 5th grade and will be in Mrs. Page's class. Emily is in 3rd grade and will be in Ms. Jacobson's class.

Erica and Ethan will be in East Elementary. Erica has a new teacher Ms. Wooten. She's excited because her teachers name is also Erica. Ethan is in Kindergarten and he is in Miss. Porter's class. They have assigned him to the PM class but I've requested that they change him to AM. All the other kids have been AM and I've found it's just easier to get them all up and out the door together. Yes it is a pain that I have to make an extra trip in the middle of the day to pick him up, oh well.

Aaron ??

If you've been paying attention you'll notice that Aaron hasn't been in pictures since before Christmas.

I've been hesitant to post anything about Aaron because I haven't wanted anyone to judge me as a bad parent. I know in my heart that it isn't because I was a bad parent. It was because of the choices that others made and in response the choices he then made that have landed him where he is today. But people will be judgmental and critical and say that I should have taught him better. But those that really care will be there to listen and support. I am here to support my son and he knows that I love him and that the Lord loves him and that's what matters.

Every parent hopes and prays that their child will do everything right and make all the right choices but no matter what you teach your children they still have their agency to make their own choices. And they then have to live with the consequences of those choices; unfortunately so do their families  My other children have not been able to see their brother since before Christmas last year and it has been hard on them. They are constantly asking when he will be coming home. I wish I knew that answer myself, but that is up to Aaron and how hard he works and how much effort he puts into doing the work that is required of him.  I don't want to go into details of why he is there but he is in a home in the Salt Lake area and is getting the support and care that he needs there.

I don't want this to be a pity party, I just want you to know that my family could use your support and prayers. Prayers especially for Aaron that he will be open and honest.

Crocheted dolls

The three girls wanted me to make them these crocheted dolls after they saw the one that I made for a friend. They each picked the pattern and the colors. I only got these two done in time to put them in the arts and crafts show for Roosevelt's annual UBIC.

This is Annie's doll, she is called Southern Belle. She won second place at the show.

This is Emily's doll, she is Miriam. She won first place at the show. I have already had an offer for her for $75. Emily will not let me sell this one and make her another so I have to make another one to sell.

Art in the park

It's UBIC time here in Roosevelt and the kids are doing art. They made these cool paper hats.
