Flooding

This is a field that has been flooded between the Green River and the White River. Because of the amount of snow we had this year the spring melt has been crazy. Some of the roads that Michael would normally drive on for work are closed because they are under water.

We went South of Ouray to see where the Green River has been flooding. The kids thought it was the coolest thing and so one time when I pulled over to let a truck pass me they wanted to get out and feel how cold it was. This area that they are standing on was a gravel drive off the highway before it was flooded. The area they are in the Green River and the White River have both flooded together.

In these next pictures this was a field, the tops of the fence posts are just barely visible above the water.

Playing at the park

We went to Vernal to do some shopping and stopped for Pizza, which we took to the park and ate. After we were done eating the kids played on the playground.

These are the crazy leaning trees at this park in Vernal.

Annie's Baptism

I didn't take any pictures of Annie at her baptism, unfortunately. After her baptism we went to the pavilion at the 1st/4th ward building and just as we got started someone showed up and said they had reserved it, so we had to hurry and eat and get out of there. We had cake and ice cream but didn't get a chance to sing Happy Birthday to her.

Annie's 8th Birthday

What, Annie is 8! Where did the time go. My little brown haired, brown eyed girl is growing up. We didn't have a party for her yet because she is getting baptized on Saturday and we're going to have dinner afterwards so we decided not to have 2 parties.

Before I was a Mom

I just found this again on my computer and since it is getting close to Mother's Day I thought I would share it.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

Easter

Saturday we had Easter lunch at my parents and the kids had an egg hunt. We hid 154 eggs for six kids. They made a haul on the candy.
Sunday we went to Michael's parents house for dinner and of course they had an egg hunt there. Uncle Tyler hid a special egg and the finder got $10. Aaron was very lucky and found it.

First Day at the Park this Spring

 Emily buried her feet
 Here she built a volcano
James wasn't too happy about being outside in the breeze.

Annie must have forgotten since last summer that she gets blisters playing on the zip line.
Emily trying out the zip line

Erica doing the zip line with dad's help
Aaron trying to be helpful :)

Feeding time

I tried feeding James some baby rice cereal about a month ago, but he was either not interested in it or already too mad and hungry to try it. I think he was too mad that day. But this afternoon I finally decided to try again. This time he really seemed to like it and he ate it really good.
